BIOGRAPHY

Photo of Hol Blaber. They are young, white british person with brown hair and eyes. Their wavy hair stops before their eyes on their forhead but is long in a mullet at the back. They ware a black cord shirt and stand with their paintings behind them.
Hol Blaber is an emerging oil painter seeking to contribute to, as well as challenge the cannon  of European history and narrative painting.
Hol uses classical techniques to evoke the grandeur of the baroque style through a contemporary vision. They translate the traditional subjects of heroes, history and myth by virtue of the artist’s position as a mediator and translator. All whilst maintaining the high emotion and drama characteristic of the period emulated.
Hol’s work invites us to consider our commonality with this cultural past and our criticism of historic beliefs, standards and ethics.

Hol is primarily a self taught artist in their medium. In addition to painting they are an accomplished digital illustrator, with publications in medical textbooks and bespoke illustrated wedding books.
They currently live and work in Northampton
